Just three miles east of the
beautiful cathedral city of Worcester and widely regarded as one
of the finest gardens of late Victorian England, Spetchley Park
boasts an enviable collection of plant treasures from every
corner of the globe. This flourishing 30-acre paradise, belonging to Mr. and Mrs. R.J.G. Berkeley, and lovingly created by successive generations of the Berkeley family, is a garden of contrasts. Formal clipped hedges, rose beds and sweeping lawns meet tumbling herbaceous borders and walls festooned with rampant climbers. Winding paths lead you from the quintessentially English to the unmistakably Mediterranean. It's a garden for all seasons too - clumps of wild primrose push up randomly through sapphire crocus and swathes of sunny daffodils in Spring, with billowing borders of blousy perennials and tender exotics in summer, and a palette of burnt orange, ochre and fiery red in autumn. Open: 1 Apr - 30 Sept, Tuesday-Friday,
11am-6pm, Sunday 11am-2pm, Bank Holiday Mondays 11am-5pm. Last admission
4pm.
Facilities: Tea
Room (parties catered for tel: 01386 792774), parking, coach parking, disabled parking, toilets (regret but no
facilities for toilets for the disabled at the moment).
