Designed by Sir Joseph Paxton, the park was the first publicly funded park in Britain.  He created a beautiful landscape of naturalistic meadows, woodlands and lakes and his design has been copied by many parks throughout the world, most notably Central Park in New York. 
Directions:
M53 at Jct. 4 and take 4th exit off roundabout onto B5151 to Birkenhead. After 8 miles turn right, at 4th lights onto Upton Road continue into Park Road North and Birkenhead Park is approximately 0.5 miles on right.

The ancestral home of the Molyneux family, the Earls of Sefton, this grand mansion is surrounded by 500 acres of grounds and parkland which include a Victorian walled garden.

Directions:
From Liverpool City Centre, follow signs for the A580 St Helens. Continue past Everton Football Statium and after you pass under a railway bridge, turn left into Dwerryhouse Lane. Croxteth Hall is located at the end of this road.

Court Hey Park covers 35 acres and is the home of this conservation centre for wild flowers.  The NWC is a registered charity which holds special events and demonstrations throughout the year.  160 metre rooftop walkway and a conservatory.

Daily April-Sept 10am-5pm.

Located in Knowsley's Court Hey Park, off M62 j5 - follow the brown tourist signs.

Presented to the University of Liverpool in 1948, the gardens are beautifully maintained with the emphasis on education and conservation.  There is year-round interest and regular events and exhibitions.

An independent museum covering a 38 acre site, incorporating the ruins of an ancient priory and a formal walled garden.  The BBC2 series Hidden Gardens featured the recreation of the medieval herb garden.
