Set in a hidden valley offering magnificent views over the beautiful countryside of the Cotswolds, Painswick Rococo Garden takes you back to a forgotten era.  The six acre garden dates from the early eighteenth century and is a unique example of the flamboyance of the fashionable English Rococo period.

In the 1970's restoration of the garden began, using a picture painted in 1748 by local artist Thomas Robins and commissioned at the time of the garden's construction by the owner of Painswick House, Benjamin Hyett.  Visitors are enthralled by the unusual series of exciting features such as the Exedra, the Maze or the Eagle House. Sudden vistas draw the viewer through to the tranquillity of woodland walks, and naturalised wild flowers like the spectacular display of snowdrops in the Snowdrop Grove.  Occasional events are held at the garden - see
the gardensearch.co.uk events section for information.
